On March 29-30, Story and Soil will likely be donating a share of their gross sales to PeerPride, in addition to taking direct donations and promoting T-shirts and raffle tickets for prizes from native companies and organizations. “Like espresso, the trans group is daring, fearless, numerous, and magnetic, (with the facility of) bringing folks collectively by means of the facility of authenticity,” says Erin Godfrey (they/she), a barista at Story and Soil.

Selecting an Group: Why PeerPride

The workforce at Story and Soil shares why they selected PeerPride because the group to donate to. “PeerPride is a small, grassroots mutual help group. The cash donated to our fundraiser will go immediately into the pockets of trans individuals who want it, paying for issues reminiscent of gender-affirming clothes gear, or issues like voice coaching,” Alice says.

“Assist Trans Baristas is an effort to have fun the trans members of our group, increase consciousness of these working for trans rights, and lift cash for organizations like PeerPride that immediately profit trans folks in Connecticut,” Michael elaborates.

Story and Soil barista Chris Rosario (they/them) shares their intentions to assist the trans group past monetary contributions. ”My hopes for this fundraiser is to not solely increase cash for the native trans group, however to additionally humanize trans folks to our clients,” Chris says. “I need our clients to know that us trans folks exist throughout them and are nothing to be feared.
